Richard A. "Dick" Schwebel of Peoria died on July 15, 2014, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and loved ones.

Schwebel was born October 14, 1942 in Vandalia and held senior executive positions at major companies including Wabco, Caterpillar, J.I. Case, Cessna Aircraft, Bomag, and Cedarapids.

Known as "Mr. Marketing" in the construction equipment industry, he founded the Construction Industry Manufacturers Association and developed the J.I. Case Excavator Rodeo and Cessna Hangar 10 shops.

Schwebel was extensively involved in civic organizations including Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, and served on boards for Children's Oncology Services, Junior Achievement, and the Peoria Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie, four children (Todd, Monica, Scott, and Brian), six grandchildren, and one brother, Raymond.
