Kenneth W. Mendyk, Sr. of McHenry passed away on July 18, 2014; he was born June 20, 1939 in Chicago to Frank and Anne Mendyk.

Served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960 aboard the USS Roanoke and worked for Goodyear for 37 years as an auto technician and training instructor.

Married Laura Jeffrey on November 18, 1960 in Maywood and was active with St. Mary Catholic Church; enjoyed camping, woodworking, and tinkering.

Survived by his wife Laura, three children (Kenneth Jr., Deborah, and Michael), six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, three brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Illinois Senate mourns his passing and extends condolences to his family and friends.
