James Atkinson of North Chicago passed away on June 25, 2014; he was born May 6, 1955 in Waukegan.

Worked for the United States Postal Service at its North Chicago office for more than 30 years.

Active member of Tiny's Social Club and officer of Zion Benton Moose Lodge; volunteered skills as painter, carpenter, cook, bartender, and grill master for charity events and developmental centers.

Survived by daughter Jennifer Atkinson, son James Jay Atkinson Jr., three sisters, one brother, and three grandsons.

Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and directs presentation of resolution to the Atkinson family.
