Ronald E. Hopwood, Sr. of Springfield passed away on August 16, 2014, born July 31, 1940, and married Doris Davis on November 11, 1983.

Served in the United States Air Force and worked at Statesville Correctional Facility, Master Supply Company, Beatrice Foods, Springfield Clinic, and Elliott Avenue Baptist Church.

Served as president of the Springfield Center for Independent Living Board of Directors and was active in the Springfield Mass Transit District Advisory Committee, Springfield Disabilities Committee, SCIL Access Committee, and Coalition for Citizens with Disabilities of Illinois.

Survived by his wife Doris, 3 children, 3 grandchildren, 6 siblings, and special friends Jerry, Charlene, and Brandon Gibson; preceded in death by his parents and brother Stan Hopwood.

Illinois Senate expresses sympathy for his passing and directs a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to his family.
