Ernest "Ernie" Bartholomew, Jr. of Arthur passed away on August 19, 2014, at age 82.

Served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, including 18 months in Korea during the Korean War.

Employed by Petro/USI Chemical Company in Tuscola for 35 years until retirement as supervisor in 1992.

Served Douglas County government as Bourbon Township Trustee and Tax Assessor for over 25 years, Douglas County Board member from 1992 to 2000 (including 2 years as chairman), and was reappointed to the County Board in 2011 and elected to a full 4-year term in 2012.

Active in community organizations for over 50 years, including the Arthur Volunteer Fire Department (20 years), Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Arthur United Methodist Church, and the Moultrie-Douglas County Fair as fair board director from 1984 to 2000.
