Judge Stanley J. Roszkowski of Rockford died on July 7, 2014; he was born January 27, 1923 in Boonville, New York.

Served as nose gunner on B-24 bomber for U.S. Army Air Corps, flying 34 missions in European theatre during World War II (1943-1945) and attained rank of staff sergeant.

Nominated to U.S. District Court in 1977 by President Jimmy Carter; served as first full-time district court judge of Northern District of Illinois's Western Division in Rockford from 1984 until retirement in 1998.

Stanley J. Roszkowski United States Courthouse in downtown Rockford was dedicated in his honor on October 29, 2011.

Illinois Senate mourns his passing and extends condolences to his surviving family: four sons, four grandchildren, one sister, and numerous other relatives.
