Dearl Morris of Peoria passed away on September 29, 2014; he was born December 19, 1926 in Grantsburg and served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 40 years, retiring in February 1985 as Worldwide Foodservice Manager; received the Silver Plate Award from the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association in 1978.

Founded member of the Heart of Illinois Restaurant Association; featured in a December 2005 Peoria Journal Star article as "Peoria's Candyman" for his homemade chocolate hobby.

Survived by one son, Dearl E. "Skip" Morris; one step-son; two step-daughters; two granddaughters; four step-granddaughters; three step-grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

Illinois Senate mourns his passing and extends condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones; a suitable copy of the resolution to be presented to his family.
