Illinois Senate expresses condolences on the death of Michael Kikuo Cavalenes of River Forest, who passed away on May 28, 2014.

Michael was born April 2, 1984, graduated from the Oakley School in 2002 with honors in math and English, and was skilled in Chinese brush painting, piano, and flute.

Michael was an accomplished soccer player for his high school varsity team and a prolific writer who authored hundreds of poems and a children's book manuscript.

Michael is survived by his parents Mark and Lynne Cavalenes, grandparents George and Elisabeth Cavalenes, and five uncles.

A suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to Michael's family as an expression of the Senate's deepest sympathy.
