Mary Ann Cahill of McHenry passed away on October 26, 2014; she was born June 10, 1927 in Chicago and married Charles "Chuck" Cahill on June 5, 1948.

Cahill was a founding member of La Leche League International in 1956, growing the organization from 7 mothers to a worldwide breastfeeding support organization; she authored the League's first manual and wrote several books including "Seven Voices, One Dream" and "The Heart Has Its Own Reasons".

Cahill and her husband were leaders in the Christian Family Movement at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Libertyville and helped establish the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Church of Holy Apostles in McHenry; she was recognized as a Catholic Woman of Inspiration on September 14, 2014.

Cahill is survived by 10 children, 20 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; she was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents, and two brothers.

The Illinois Senate expresses condolences to Cahill's family and directs that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to them.
