Robert P. "Bob" Neal, born May 18, 1939 in North Chicago, passed away on September 3, 2014.

Served in the United States Navy on active duty from 1957 to 1961 and retired from Naval Reserves in 1999; served as President of the Lake County Council of the Navy League.

Founded and operated Able Electronics in Waukegan for over 25 years; served on Lake County Board from 1982 to 1994 and as Chairman of Lake County Republican Central Committee for 8 years; appointed director of Illinois State Toll Highway Authority for 10 years by Governors James Thompson and Jim Edgar.

Active in community service through Boy Scouts (first Eagle Scout in St. Patrick's Troop 75), Jaycees, Lions Club (received Melvin Jones Award in 1996), Masonic Lodge, Newport Township volunteer firefighter, and various civic organizations.

Survived by wife Pat of 53 years, five children including U.S. Navy Lt. Joe Neal, six grandchildren, and four siblings; resolution expresses the Illinois Senate's sympathy to his family.
