Thomas F. Sturr of Pentwater, Michigan died on August 23, 2014; he was born in Chicago on August 30, 1935.

Graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1953 and University of Detroit with a degree in architectural engineering; married Dolores Kuchar on January 25, 1958.

Worked with architectural firms Shaw, Metz & Dolio and C.F. Murphy Associates before becoming a partner with Perkins & Will and founding his own firms; notable projects included restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright's Unity Temple and Oak Park Mall construction in the 1970s.

Competed in Chicago-to-Mackinac sailboat races beginning in 1960 and moved to Pentwater, Michigan in 1976, where his firm designed projects including St. Vincent Catholic Church; retired in June 1998 and pursued watercolor painting.
