Changes the distance threshold for mandatory free school transportation from 1.5 miles to 2 miles from school for pupils in most school districts.

Allows school boards to charge fees for transporting pupils living less than 2 miles from school, with charges not to exceed actual costs including vehicle depreciation.

Updates provisions for pupils attending charter schools and nonpublic schools to receive free transportation if they reside at least 2 miles from the school on the regular bus route.

Modifies State reimbursement calculations for school district transportation costs to reflect the new 2-mile distance threshold for eligible pupils.

Effective July 1, 2015, with related changes to provisions concerning transportation eligibility, safety hazards, and custodian reimbursement for transportation expenses.
