School boards may adopt policies allowing students in grades 7-8 to enroll in high school courses required under Section 27-22 of the School Code, provided the course is offered by their future high school.

Students may take courses either at the high school location (if it doesn't prevent high school enrollment) or at their current school if taught by a teacher with a professional educator license endorsed for that grade level and content area.

School boards must grant high school academic credit to elementary students who successfully complete qualifying high school courses, and this credit satisfies Section 27-22 requirements.

Transferring students must receive high school credit for previously completed courses under this policy unless evidence shows the course did not meet Illinois Learning Standards at the appropriate high school level.

Student grades from courses completed under this policy must be included in grade point average calculations according to the school board's policy.
