HB1127 Summary

• Allows prosecution at any time for certain sexual offenses against victims under 18 years of age, including criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual assault, predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, criminal sexual abuse, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

• Extends the statute of limitations to 20 years after a child victim attains age 18 for prosecutions involving failure to report suspected child sexual abuse under the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.

• Permits prosecution within 10 years after a child victim attains age 18 for misdemeanor criminal sexual abuse when the victim was under 18 at the time of the offense.

• Extends the statute of limitations to 10 years for armed robbery, home invasion, kidnapping, or aggravated kidnapping charges that arise from the same course of conduct as qualifying sexual offenses against minors.
