HB1373 Summary

• Eliminates stipends for county officers (assessors, treasurers, coroners, sheriffs, recorders of deeds, and circuit court clerks) whose terms of office begin on or after the bill's effective date.

• Removes the $500 annual Certified Assessing Evaluator Certificate bonus for supervisors of assessments and the $3,000 performance-based compensation for assessors hired after the effective date.

• Eliminates the $6,500 annual stipend previously paid to county treasurers, coroners, sheriffs, auditors, and other county officers hired after the effective date.

• Prevents county boards from reducing base compensation to county officers as a result of them losing state-funded stipends.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
