IL HB1400

Requires municipalities with populations under 1,000,000 to adopt an ordinance and appoint an inspector general by July 1, 2015.

Designates the county sheriff to serve as inspector general for municipalities that fail to appoint one by the deadline or during vacancies in the inspector general position.

Applies to municipalities whose territory lies entirely within or has a majority of its territory within the sheriff's county.

Amends the Counties Code (55 ILCS 5/3-6019) and creates new provisions in the Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILCS 5/3.1-30-30).
