IL HB1509

Requires each school board to adopt a rule addressing sexually explicit text or images sent by students through computers, cellular phones, or other portable electronic devices.

Mandates that student discipline policies provided to parents, guardians, or students must include the sexting rule and any penalties for violations.

Requires student discipline policies to specify any applicable local, state, or federal laws and penalties related to sending sexually explicit images or text through electronic devices.

Applies to both regular school boards (Section 10-20.56) and charter schools (Section 34-18.49).

Becomes effective immediately upon becoming law.
