IL HB2525

Requires Illinois medical assistance program to cover over-the-counter medications when prescribed by physicians, physician's assistants, nurse practitioners, or other qualified medical care providers.

Mandates pharmacies be reimbursed at the same rate as prescription medications for dispensing prescribed over-the-counter medications under the medical assistance program.

Directs the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to establish guidelines and standards by administrative rule regarding documentation requirements for prescribing over-the-counter medications to medical assistance recipients.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
