IL HB2701

Creates the Ultrasound Opportunity Act requiring abortion facilities to offer women seeking abortion after 8 weeks of gestation an opportunity to receive and view an active ultrasound of the unborn child before the procedure begins.

Ultrasound must be performed by a qualified person and must be of quality consistent with standard medical practice, with the woman's response (acceptance or decline) documented and signed.

Requirements do not apply in cases of medical emergency, as determined by the physician's good faith clinical judgment.

Establishes that ultrasounds serve essential medical purposes including confirming pregnancy presence, location, and gestational age, and diagnosing ectopic pregnancies.

Becomes effective immediately upon passage.
