• Department of Corrections prescribes rules and regulations for awarding and revoking sentence credits, subject to Prisoner Review Board review.

• Prisoners convicted of first-degree murder or terrorism receive no sentence credit and must serve entire sentences; prisoners convicted of other violent crimes receive maximum 4.5 days credit per month of imprisonment.

• Prisoners serving sentences for offenses other than those listed receive one day of sentence credit for each day served, except those serving natural life sentences or death sentences receive no credit.

• Director may award up to 180 days additional sentence credit for good conduct (maximum 90 days for first-degree murder and certain violent crimes), with Department providing annual reports to Governor and General Assembly on good conduct credit awards.

• Department must notify State's Attorneys at least 14 days before releasing inmates early due to sentence credits and must post inmate identification information online within 3 days of early release.
