IL HB2825

Amends the Fire Protection District Act to add Section 11l granting fire chiefs authority to enforce rules adopted by the State Fire Marshal under the Fire Investigation Act.

Fire chiefs may order removal or remedy of dangerous conditions or fire hazards and must notify the owner, occupant, or interested person by personal service, certified mail, or posting on the premises.

Fire chiefs may order immediate vacation of premises if a dangerous condition places occupants at risk of imminent bodily injury or serious harm, effective immediately upon posting.

State's Attorney may seek enforcement of fire chief orders in circuit court through temporary restraining order, preliminary injunction, or permanent injunction without requiring bond or damages.

The bill's provisions are supplementary to the Fire Investigation Act and do not limit the authority of fire chiefs, local officers, or the State Fire Marshal under existing law.
