HB3097 Summary

• Amends game breeding and hunting preserve licensing requirements to allow licensees to release 250 species-authorized game birds either individually or in aggregate, rather than specific species quotas, during each hunting season for Class A areas or during the license year for Class B areas.

• Removes Coturnix quail from the list of authorized game birds that can be released and harvested on licensed preserve areas, keeping only Ring-necked pheasants, Bobwhite quail, Hungarian partridges, Chukar partridges, wild turkeys, and hand-reared mallard ducks.

• Modifies tagging requirements for harvested game birds to allow tags to be affixed to bags containing dressed game birds or placed inside bags with the tag clearly visible from outside, in addition to leg banding requirements.

• Repeals Section 3.31 of the Wildlife Code.
