HB3205 - Anesthesiologist Assistant Practice Act

• Creates the Anesthesiologist Assistant Practice Act, establishing state licensure requirements through the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation for anesthesiologist assistants.

• Requires applicants to have a master's degree from an accredited anesthesiologist assistant program, active certification from the National Commission on Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants, and a clean criminal background (with felony convictions not absolute bars).

• Mandates anesthesiologist assistants work only under the immediate supervision of a licensed anesthesiologist through a written supervision agreement and prohibits them from billing patients directly or using the title "doctor."

• Establishes the Anesthesiologist Assistant Advisory Committee with 5 members (including 1 board member, 1 anesthesiologist assistant, 2 anesthesiologists, and 1 public member) to advise on licensure, discipline, and renewal.

• Preempts local regulation, makes licensure effective January 1, 2016, and repeals the Act on January 1, 2026 under the Regulatory Sunset Act; amends hospital and surgical center licensing laws to include anesthesiologist assistants.
