IL HB3238

Amends the Illinois Municipal Code to add Section 3.1-55-30 regarding choice of inspector general jurisdiction.

Allows public officers (city councilmembers, aldermen, commissioners, mayors, etc.) in municipalities with populations exceeding 1,000,000 that have multiple inspectors general to choose which inspector general has jurisdiction over them by filing a signed, notarized affidavit with the county clerk.

Public officers selecting a different inspector general become subject to that inspector general's rules and ordinances upon filing the affidavit.

Prohibits home rule units from enacting ordinances or rules that conflict with this provision and establishes this section as a limitation on home rule powers under the Illinois Constitution.
