Department of Human Services must cross-reference public aid recipient rosters with death records from the Department of Public Health at least once each calendar month using the Electronic Data Warehouse.

Public aid benefits are immediately canceled and LINK cards are deactivated when a recipient is found to have a matching death record, provided no other individuals receive benefits in that assistance unit.

Identity verification between the death certificate and public aid recipient record is required before benefit cancellation occurs.

LINK card is defined as the electronic benefits transfer card used to access Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits or cash.

Act takes effect upon becoming law.
