IL HB3348

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code Section 12-201 to require all automobiles to exhibit at least 2 lighted head lamps at all times when operated on any highway in Illinois.

Specifies that head lamps must have at least one on each side of the vehicle front and satisfy United States Department of Transportation requirements, showing white lights including high intensity discharge (HID) lamps or yellow/amber tinted lights.

Removes previous restrictions limiting head lamp requirements to sunset to sunrise and specific weather conditions, making the requirement apply continuously regardless of time of day or atmospheric conditions.

Maintains existing requirements for motorcycles, motor-driven cycles, mopeds, and low-speed electric bicycles to exhibit at least one lighted lamp.

Takes effect January 1, 2016.
