IL HB3404

Amends the University of Illinois Act to expand the periods of hostilities for which counties may award scholarships to children of veterans.

Adds the siege of Beirut (June 14, 1982 to February 26, 1984) as a qualifying period of hostilities for scholarship eligibility.

Adds the Grenada Conflict (October 25, 1983 to December 15, 1983) as a qualifying period of hostilities for scholarship eligibility.

Each county remains entitled to one annual honorary scholarship at the University for children of armed forces service members from the newly added periods, with preference given to children of deceased or disabled service members.

Effective immediately upon becoming law.
