IL HB3435

Amends the School Code to add a new exemption allowing students to be excused from school when their parent or legal guardian is an active duty member of the uniformed services who has been called to duty, is on leave from, or has immediately returned from deployment to a combat zone or combat-support postings.

Grants students 10 days of excused absences per school year for military-related absences, with school boards authorized to grant additional excused absences at their discretion for visits related to the parent or guardian's leave or deployment.

Requires students and parents or legal guardians to obtain course assignments from teachers prior to any excused absence period and to ensure assignments are completed before the student returns to school.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
