HB3575 Summary

• Amends the Illinois Police Training Act to authorize local law enforcement agencies to create Minority Internship Recruitment Programs in conjunction with local high schools (grades 9-12) and community colleges.

• Internship programs shall focus on preparing minority youth for careers in law enforcement and must provide college credit to participants.

• Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, State Board of Education, and Illinois Community College Board shall jointly determine program guidelines.

• Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board may adopt rules to implement the new Section 10.17.
