• Non-restaurant food handlers must complete basic safe food handling training within 30 days of employment and every 3 years thereafter (previously only required once at hiring).

• Training can be conducted online, in classroom, or by certified trainers, and American National Standards Institute-accredited training satisfies the requirement.

• Training is transferable between employers when using ANSI-accredited programs, but not transferable between individuals or employers if non-accredited programs are used.

• At least one approved training module must be available commercially at no more than $15 per employee.

• Provisions take effect July 1, 2016, with enforcement limited to education and notification through December 31, 2016.
