Increases sentence credit award for passing high school equivalency testing from 60 days to 90 days for prisoners committed to the Department of Corrections who have not previously earned a high school diploma or equivalency certificate.

Award of 90 days sentence credit also available to committed persons who passed high school equivalency testing while in pre-trial detention prior to current Department of Corrections commitment.

Sentence credit for high school equivalency achievement subject to same eligibility restrictions as other program-based credits, including exclusions for certain violent offenses and crimes committed after specific effective dates.

Changes apply to Section 3-6-3 of the Unified Code of Corrections governing rules and regulations for sentence credit awards.
