Adds a new exemption to Illinois compulsory school attendance requirements allowing students in grades 6-12 to be excused for sounding "Taps" at military honors funerals for deceased veterans held in Illinois.

Requires students to notify school administration at least 2 days prior to the absence with the date, time, and location of the military honors funeral, with waiver possible if less than 2 days advance notice is available.

Counts excused absences for military honors funerals toward average daily attendance calculations and requires schools to allow reasonable time for students to make up missed schoolwork.

Allows students to avoid penalties for the absence if schoolwork is satisfactorily completed and the day counts as compulsory attendance.
