Municipalities may charge fees not exceeding the reasonable cost of services provided by volunteer fire departments to non-residents of the municipality.

Charges are capped at $250 per hour for the department and $70 per hour per individual firefighter responding to calls, with an additional charge allowed for extraordinary material expenses.

No charge shall be assessed if the total amount is less than $50.

All revenue from these fees must be deposited into the municipality's general fund.

Fire protection districts are given the same fee-charging authority under the Fire Protection District Act, with identical rate limits and restrictions.
