IL HB4968

Amends the Township Code to expand township consolidation eligibility to all townships within a conterminous or substantially coterminous municipality.

Removes the previous requirement that consolidation only apply to counties with a population of 3 million or more.

Removes the previous requirement that a township contain 7 square miles or more of territory to be eligible for consolidation.

Simplifies the applicability criteria by deleting conditions regarding city council powers and municipal officials serving as township officers.
