Secretary of State may require owners of first division motor vehicles or second division vehicles weighing 8,000 pounds or less to select their birthday as the vehicle registration expiration date.

If a motor vehicle has multiple registered owners, the owners may jointly select one owner's birthday as the registration expiration date.

Secretary of State is authorized to adopt rules necessary to implement the birthday registration expiration option.

Beginning with the 2018 registration year, rental owners may register fleets of first division motor vehicles on a 5 calendar year basis with distinct registration plates expiring on a 5-year cycle.
