IL HB5805

Adds new subsection (a-5) to establish a 7-year statute of limitations for prosecuting theft of property exceeding $100,000, identity theft, aggravated identity theft, financial exploitation of elderly or disabled persons, and offenses under Article 16H or Section 17-10.6, calculated from the last act committed in furtherance of the crime.

Removes the previous 7-year limitations provision from Section 3-6(k) and relocates it to Section 3-5(a-5) as a general limitation rather than an extended limitation.

Updates Section 3-5(b) to reference both subsections (a) and (a-5) when establishing the default 3-year felony and 18-month misdemeanor statute of limitations periods.

Applies the 7-year limitations period to identity theft offenses that were previously subject to a 5-year discovery-based limitation under Section 3-6(f-5).
