State Board of Education, in conjunction with the Department of Public Health, shall establish a calorie transparency program for implementation in Illinois public schools.

Program purpose is to reduce obesity by educating students on healthy eating habits and awareness of food contents.

School boards must require each school to conspicuously display nutritional information, including calories, fat, sugar, and sodium content, for all food items offered for sale to students on school property.

State Board of Education may adopt rules necessary to administer the calorie transparency program.
