IL HB6030

Requires every Illinois pension fund and retirement system (except those under Articles 3 or 4) to develop and implement a process to identify deceased annuitants by June 30, 2017.

Mandates pension funds check for deceased annuitants at least once per month using commonly accepted methods including third-party entities, Social Security Administration data, Department of Public Health vital records, or other state-standard identification methods.

Makes vital records information available at no cost to pension funds and retirement systems for administrative purposes related to identifying deceased annuitants.

Exempts the State from reimbursing local entities for the costs of implementing this mandate.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
