The State Board of Education may work with school districts to inform students with developmental disabilities and their parents or guardians about the Prioritization of Urgency of Need for Services (PUNS) database maintained by the Department of Human Services.

The Department of Human Services and State Board of Education shall develop and implement an online training program for at least one designated employee in every public school to educate them about the PUNS database and enrollment procedures.

At least one designated employee in every public school shall ensure the opportunity to enroll in the PUNS database is discussed during annual individualized education program (IEP) meetings for all children and adolescents with developmental disabilities.

The State Board of Education shall inform parents and guardians of students through school districts about the PUNS waiting list and how time spent on the list is considered in service selection.

The Department of Human Services shall consider the length of time on the PUNS waiting list as a factor when selecting individuals for developmental disabilities services.
