HB6130 Summary

• Removes the January 1, 1993 date restriction that limited which contributing employees could apply for military service credit in Cook County pension funds.

• Allows employees with at least 25 years of service credit to apply for up to 2 years of creditable military service, regardless of when they became employees.

• Requires employees to pay employee contributions plus interest to the Fund to establish military service credit, calculated based on compensation rates before or after the military service period.

• Forfeits military service credit and refunds contributions if an employee applies for or receives an early retirement incentive under Section 9-134.2.

• Exempts the mandate from State Mandates Act reimbursement requirements and makes the act effective immediately upon passage.
