IL HB6180

Amends the Pharmacy Practice Act to require each pharmacy to establish and maintain a written quality assurance program designed to prevent dispensing errors.

Requires pharmacies to detect, identify, and investigate dispensing errors within 2 business days of discovery, and perform a quality assurance review if the error is attributable to the pharmacy or its personnel.

Mandates quality assurance review records include investigation details, essential cause examination, findings, policy changes, and mitigation activities, with records retained for at least 5 years.

Protects quality assurance program records and proceedings from discovery in arbitration, civil, or other proceedings, except when the Department reviews records for public health and safety or when fraud is alleged by a government agency.

Takes effect 12 months after becoming law.
