Amends Section 9-158 of the Illinois Pension Code regarding proof of disability for public employees.

Allows the board to waive the requirement for physician-provided proof of duty disability if the employee has already been compensated by the county under the Workers' Compensation Act or Workers' Occupational Diseases Act.

Permits the board to waive the physician requirement for ordinary disability maternity claims lasting up to 8 weeks.

Requires disabled employees receiving duty or ordinary disability benefits to be examined at least once annually by licensed physicians appointed by the board.

Removes the provision requiring employees to be returned to active service when their disability ceases; the board shall only discontinue benefit payments.
