HB6594 Summary

• Amends the Unemployment Insurance Act to modify maximum benefit amounts for workers affected by temporary steelmaking facility closures.

• Provides that eligible individuals whose unemployment is caused by an employer's temporary idling of a steelmaking facility shall receive maximum benefits equal to 52 times their weekly benefit amount plus dependents' allowances, or total base period wages, whichever is smaller.

• Applies to benefit years beginning on or after December 1, 2015 and prior to the effective date of this amendatory act.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
