IL HB6602

Amends the Illinois Pension Code to add forfeiture provisions for survivor benefits when a recipient is convicted of any felony relating to or arising from the deceased member's service.

Applies forfeiture to survivor benefit recipients across all public employee pension systems including state employees, police officers, firefighters, teachers, judges, and municipal employees.

Protects existing survivor benefits acquired prior to the effective date of this act from forfeiture; changes apply only to survivors gaining rights after the law takes effect.

Deems all new participants entering service after the effective date as having consented to the felony forfeiture provisions as a condition of participation in their respective pension systems.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
