HB6603 Summary

• Increases minimum sentence for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child from 6 years to 11 years imprisonment for Class X felony convictions under subsection (a)(1).

• Adds mandatory 5-year enhancement to imprisonment term for aggravated criminal sexual assault violations under paragraphs (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), or (7) of subsection (a), or under subsections (b) or (c).

• Maintains enhanced sentences for aggravated criminal sexual assault involving weapons or firearms: 10 years for dangerous weapon use, 15 years if armed with firearm, 20 years if firearm discharged, and 25 years to life if discharge causes great bodily harm.

• Applies enhanced sentencing provisions to both first-time and repeat sexual assault offenders, with repeat offenders subject to natural life imprisonment sentences.

• Requires offenders under age 18 to be sentenced under Section 5-4.5-105 of the Unified Code of Corrections rather than standard sentencing guidelines.
