HB6632 - Immigration Safe Zones Act

• Schools, medical facilities, and places of worship cannot grant access to ICE or law enforcement agencies partnering with ICE to investigate immigration violations unless a court-issued warrant is presented and reviewed, or access is required by law with personnel consent.

• School employees are prohibited from asking students or their families about immigration status, except when information is necessary for in-state tuition verification, scholarships, grants, or related services that must not be shared for other purposes.

• Department of Human Services must provide training to teachers, administrators, school staff, and medical facility staff on handling immigration issues, notifying families in multiple languages, explaining legal rights, and accessing available resources.

• Facility leadership must develop plans within 90 days of the law's effective date to provide assistance, information, and safety to persons concerned about immigration enforcement efforts.

• State agencies, public schools, and public higher education institutions must remove all citizenship and immigration status questions (except those required by statute, ordinance, federal law, or court order) from applications and forms within 60 days of the law's effective date.
