HJR0011 Summary

• Creates the Advisory Committee on Education and Workforce Alignment consisting of 8 legislative members (2 from each chamber, appointed by leadership with co-chairs from each party).

• Committee shall review existing curriculum and recommend alterations that emphasize STEM education, workforce preparation, manufacturing industry information, and anticipate workforce needs.

• Committee must seek input from stakeholders and the public on curriculum improvements and consider long-term implications of proposed changes.

• Committee members serve without compensation; State Board of Education provides administrative support and meets minimum of 4 times per year.

• Committee shall submit legislative and administrative recommendations to legislative leaders by February 1, 2016, with the State Board of Education distributing the resolution to school districts.
