Honors Sgt. Myron G. Deckard of the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department, who was shot and killed on June 6, 2001 while transporting a prisoner

Sgt. Deckard served 32 years with the Sheriff's Department and 15 years as a warrant officer

Requests the Department of Transportation to erect plaques or signs at suitable locations identifying the memorial rest area in compliance with state and federal regulations

Directs copies of the resolution be presented to Sgt. Deckard's family and the Secretary of the Department of Transportation
