Supports recommendations from HeartLands Conservancy's feasibility study to elevate the national status of Cahokia Mounds and thematically-connected mound complexes in southwestern Illinois and eastern Missouri.

Calls upon Congress to designate Cahokia Mounds and suitable related mound complexes as a non-contiguous National Historical Park recognizing the Mississippian Culture's significance as one of America's first cities.

Urges the President to alternatively exercise authority by Executive Order to designate Cahokia Mounds as a National Monument if Congressional action does not occur.

Affirms that the State of Illinois should continue to own and operate Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site while establishing collaborative partnerships with the National Park Service and other communities and entities.

Encourages Illinois citizens to join the Mississippian Culture Initiative led by HeartLands Conservancy, the Illinois Governor, and the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency to protect and develop these ancient archaeological sites.
