HJR0052 Summary

• Establishes a Higher Education Commission on the Future of the Workforce to be created by the Board of Higher Education.

• Commission composition includes 11 members: 2 state senators (one appointed by Senate President, one by Senate Minority Leader), 2 state representatives (one by House Speaker, one by House Minority Leader), and 7 members appointed by the Board of Higher Education representing education, employment, economic development, and postsecondary degree expertise.

• Commission shall study workforce needs by economic region, partnerships for degree completion, distance/online learning options, student incentives for critical-needs fields, student advising improvements, and best practices from other states for certificate and degree completion.

• Board of Higher Education shall provide administrative support to the Commission.

• Commission must report findings to the General Assembly and Governor within 6 months of formation.
